CMMS and Master Data Implementation
Equipment and maintenance master data are often not given priority by businesses, despite the integrity of this data is critical to a good preventive maintenance program. Often equipment registers no longer reflect the actual state of plant or mobile fleet. Typically, maintenance task information is not updated on the completion of activities. Actual durations, tools required, and spare parts used are not updated onto Standard Jobs and have to be planned over and over. Data is no longer accurate, including Bills of Material (BOM) and catalog information. This invariably leads to loss of production, inefficient scheduling of maintenance, and the potential over or under stocking of equipment spares.
Master data is critical from a maintenance perspective to understanding the make and model of the equipment, the strategies which are in place, and the Bills of Materials that are required to carry out each maintenance task. When maintenance is set up correctly in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Preventive Maintenance tasks require very little planning. Durations of each task, the required manning, the spares needed, as well as the required tooling, are all documented clearly on each activity and subsequent work order. When the catalog of a spare is up to date, all of the required spares are stocked on-site or ordered insufficient time for the maintenance task to be carried out on time.
Maintenance Budgets are also inherently linked to the integrity of master data. It is near impossible to forecast accurate maintenance costs of multiple types of equipment, without having documented the full array of maintenance information. For example, without an accurate BOM on each task, there is no way of knowing the total material cost of each activity.
Whether you are looking to clean up equipment registers, critical spares, standard jobs, or are implementing a full CMMS, Bluefield has extensive experience in CMMS and Master Data management.
A Bluefield team of asset management specialists will determine the health of the equipment registers, the maintenance data – including labor requirements, downtime, and Bill of Materials (BOM) and efficiently work to restore both the accuracy and integrity of the CMMS.
Bluefield specialists can also review the maintenance strategies of both fixed and mobile fleet to ensure that maintenance strategies are both best practices and tailored to site and budget requirements.
Bluefield is also experts in:
- Asset Management Solutions, i.e. assistance with selecting a CMMS
- CMMS System Implementation
- Asset and Maintenance of Data Migration
- Master Data Management
- Asset Data Remediation
- Develop and embed system processes
Bluefield’s specialists have many years of experience in working at all levels of an organization, from the executive leadership team to the shop floor. We understand how to develop CMMS data that can be efficiently planned and scheduled on-site. Bluefield can also provide coaching and other assistance for leaders who need to develop planning and or execution teams.
We can engage leadership and frontline teams in workshops to gain consensus on high-level objectives and targets, as well as identifying performance gaps. We can also provide our pre-existing Bluefield templates to help speed up the process of cleansing master data and moving ahead to implementation. Most importantly, our number one aim is to ensure you, the client, own and implement CMMS master data and not Bluefield.
